Gilberto Rodrigues has been working in the stucco industry since he immigrated to Canada from Portugal at age 19, in the late ‘80s.

“I arrived in Canada on a weekend and was working by Monday morning. I started out labouring on stucco projects, but early on one of the bosses noticed my potential and asked if I wanted to be a plasterer. They saw I was doing a good job, and made sure I got all the training and experience I needed.

“I worked for companies across the Lower Mainland, getting experience with every type of stucco finish on every type of building. I worked my way up to co-run a stucco company, before leaving to form Gill & Sons Exterior Textures Ltd. in 2014 with my three sons .

“My sons started working for me on their summer breaks, and have grown up in the industry. They started off labouring, and learned the trade from the ground up. Together we built a very successful business.

“My boys grew up. One by one, over a period of time, they went their own way. Just like I did. It makes me incredibly proud to see them starting their own families now and becoming successful in their own ventures.

“I figured it was time to rename the business in late 2022. We’re now Armored Exteriors Ltd. We offer the same service, the same pride in our work. We’re a team. We work together as a crew, and work hard.”

Armored Exteriors employ a caulking specialist to ensure the completed project is waterproof around doors, windows and any other points moisture could enter. This uses the rod and caulking technique to ensure the completed stucco is weatherproof throughout its lifetime. Caulking alone, without the rods, will one day shrink and let in moisture. This is a precision job, and we employ the best. It’s all part of our commitment to top quality service, ensuring our projects are not only stunning but durable.

In a three-decade career Gilberto has applied stucco throughout the Lower Mainland: North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Port Moody, Coquitlam, Richmond, Delta, Surrey, White Rock, Langley and Maple Ridge. Armored Exteriors are ready to work in your neighborhood!
